Wendy  is a seasoned communicator with an affinity for establishing and nurturing long-term relationships to help companies achieve their business goals.  She is a results oriented strategist with big picture objectives.

With over fifteen years of working in the experiential  marketing industry, Wendy has held various positions in top marketing firms, communications and event/entertainment marketing.  She has worked with big brand companies like Intel, Nike and Sony, to name a few.

Well versed in traditional marketing including event planning and production, brand strategy and project management.

Voss graduate from the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota.  She has spent the last 15 years with an exhibit company.

Wendy resides in Northern, Arizona.  Loves to travel, go to concerts and hike the vast wonders of the world.

Here’s a quick interview with Wendy to get to know her better!

What do you love about the events industry?

I love creating something from an “idea,”  and developing that into something special and memorable.  It is so enjoyable to see people interacting, involved, building relationships, enhancing business.  The event industry is a growing sector of the business world and I am part of it! What can be better than that!?

What is your most favorite part about your new job?

Being involved with fun and energetic, professionals both on our company side and the client side.

We have fun in this industry.  It is hard work, with so many rewards personally and professionally.

What challenges are you looking forward to taking head on in this position?

Changing the perception that Encore Creative is just an event production company.  We have so many options in this industry.  Our company has been around for over 30 years. We know how to deliver outstanding results.  In this world of technology, the face-to-face event marketing solution is still the number one choice for most people.

Helping to create the integration of various new technologies, with the core production elements.

Also, we are the “best” kept secret and I want the world to know about Encore Creative and our team of incredible talent!.

How do you define “superior customer service?”

Anything is possible.  In our world, when we get bad service we know it instantly.  We fix problems, if plan A is not working we quickly have plan B. We create and perform at a high level, in stressful situations and still keep our cool. That’s events and customer service in a nutshell.

At the end of the day, our clients know we care and that we will do whatever it takes to produce the best event.

What do you do for fun?

I love the outdoors and getting close to nature.  I grew up in the north woods of Minnesota and lived on a lake most of my life.  It is so wonderful to take my camera out and take photographs and just breathe in the air and feel the sun.  We live in such a wonderful, beautiful area of the country.  The Southwest is magical.  Keep your body in motion is my answer to living a long life.

Part of our design process includes sketching out the final product on paper. The process also includes meetings, more sketches and usually results in a pile of used erasers by our artists until a final design can be decided upon. From sketch it goes along to the client when needed or on to more detailed 3D renderings.

Once a final design is decided upon, it’s handed off to our build shop where our team gets cracking! Sparks fly, blades spin and paint is applied. Before long, the new item is complete and ready to be delivered to the next event we are producing!

Effective networking isn’t a result of luck — it requires hard work and persistence. What does it take to be a super networker? Here are seven of the most important habits to develop:

1. Ask insightful questions. Before attending networking events, get the names of the people who are expected to attend and search social media sites like LinkedIn to figure out which topics they’re probably most interested in. For people who are already in your network, don’t assume you know everything they’re up to. Find out what they’re currently working on — or perhaps struggling with. This attention to detail can go a long way at your next one-on-one lunch or dinner meeting.

1. Add value. One of the most powerful networking practices is to provide immediate value to a new connection. This means the moment you identify a way to help someone, take action. If, for instance, you know someone in your network who can help a new connection with a problem, drop what you’re doing and introduce the two individuals.

2. Learn their ‘story.’ Ask successful entrepreneurs to tell you how they got where they are. Most people think of this as an exercise in rapport building, but hearing these stories can tell you a lot about a person’s approach to business. The more you understand your networking partner’s mentality, the better you can add and extract value from your relationship.

For example, some entrepreneurs pride themselves on working 16-hour days and doing whatever it takes, while others focus on being strategic and waiting for the right opportunities to open up. These are clues that can not only allow you to see what people value, but also what working with them might be like.

1. Share a memorable fact. When someone asks, “What do you do?” don’t give a canned elevator speech about your company and career. Mention something personal that defines who you really are. Maybe you have a passion for playing an instrument or an obsession with collecting antiques. These are also “things you do,” so make it a point to share them. Such personal details can help lighten the mood and get people talking.

1. Keep a list. What’s your routine after attending a networking event or meal? If your answer is, “I go home,” you’re probably going to miss out on opportunities. Write down important topics that came up at the event. This habit can help prevent opportunities from falling through the cracks and give you something to reference in conversation the next time you meet. You can also develop a reputation as someone who’s on top of things.

2. Make small promises and keep them. No matter how small a promise you make — such as sending an email or returning a phone call — delivering on that promise reflects on your character. By following through on your word, you start building a reputation for trustworthiness, which is exactly how every great networker wants to be perceived.

3. Reward your ‘power’ contacts. Keep a list of your top five to 10 networking partners and do something each week to add value to one person’s life or business. You might send them a book or set up a lunch to introduce them to one of your other contacts. This habit can help you be proactive about staying in touch with your most powerful contacts. Just as with fitness or investing, the most successful people are the ones who choose to be consistent in their actions.

Favorite Part of My Job: Every day is different and I am able to think through, design, create, cut and sew various interesting things that Encore is working on. One day I might be making curtains or table cloths and the next day it might be ceiling treatments or faux fur llama skins.
